Vaults on Aster
Verified against Aster's official docs on 2026-09-29. The docs note that requirements "may be updated as the standards evolve."
An Aster Vault is a trading account run by a manager with investors' money. Investors get a share of the vault's net asset value, and "all trading decisions are made by the Vault Manager." The rules below decide when you can leave and what the manager takes.
What the manager puts up
- 100 ASTER, locked. Returned on closing if the vault's lifetime Total PnL is positive. "If the Vault's lifetime Total PnL is zero or negative, the 100 $ASTER is permanently burned", and it also burns if the vault is liquidated.
- At least $100 of their own money as the initial investment.
- A minimum ownership share, set at creation (the FAQ refers to at least 10%). Below it, new deposits are disabled and the manager cannot redeem more.
Settings are permanent: "Vault settings cannot be modified after creation." Each vault takes one deposit asset, chosen from USDF, USDT, USD1, USDC and U.
What investors should check
- Profit share. 0% to 100%, charged on realized profit only, when you redeem at a profit or the manager distributes. "No profit share is charged on losses."
- Lock-up. Default 1 day. "Every new deposit resets the lock-up timer for the investor's entire position", so topping up re-locks everything.
- Auto close on redeem. If on, a redemption closes that share of every position at market, so you get out now but pay slippage. If off, funds come from available margin first, then open orders, then positions.
- Privacy mode. Public, private, or flexible (the manager can switch at any time). In private mode, "Vault positions, orders, balances, and account information remain private." The docs do not say whether investors see more than the public does.
Minimum deposit is 100 of the vault's asset, and the manager "can enable or disable deposits at any time". Managers can also pay out profits without a redemption, at most once every 24 hours.
What a vault account cannot do
Vaults "may only trade perpetual futures products": no spot, no Shield products, no staking. They take no direct on-chain deposits or withdrawals, and they do not take part in points programs or points airdrops.
FAQ
Can I withdraw at any time?
No. "Funds can only be redeemed after the Vault's lock-up period", and a new deposit restarts it.
Is the APR shown on a vault a forecast?
No. It is a historical figure; the docs say performance data "does not guarantee future results." See our guide to earning on perp DEXs.
