Past incident: funding-index outage and chain rollback (resolved) — 2026-01-19. On 2026-01-19 a database-maintenance race condition zeroed Paradex’s funding indices, briefly pricing BTC at $0 and triggering mass liquidations; the site was offline for roughly six hours. Paradex rolled the chain back to block 1,604,710 and refunded about $650,000 to roughly 200 affected accounts. The venue has operated normally since — noted here as resolved context for anyone weighing its reliability, not a current outage. ( Paradex post-mortem )

How to Start Trading on Paradex (2026): Step by Step

How-to · 4 min read · Updated 2026-09-10

Mechanics verified against official Paradex docs on 2026-09-10.

Perpetual futures are leveraged instruments: your entire margin can be lost quickly, and funding accrues while a position is open. Read the risk disclosure first. Paradex's docs contain no KYC statement and no restricted-jurisdiction list, so check the venue's own terms for eligibility before depositing; this guide does not cover access workarounds. You will need:

Connect and create the account

Connecting derives a Paradex account from your wallet signature, so there is no separate registration. Accounts are "based on ArgentX" and use an owner key plus an optional guardian key; adding a guardian is an opt-in hardening step the docs describe.

Deposit USDC

Two routes. The native Paradex Bridge moves USDC from Ethereum and "requires 4-6 hours for completion", which the docs recommend for large amounts on security grounds. Third-party bridges let you "bridge assets from over 30 different chains" including EVM chains, Solana and Starknet, with provider-specific limits and fees. Email and social accounts deposit the same way once the account exists.

Decide how your orders will be classified

Orders from the web app are Retail and pay 0%, with a 300ms speed bump and lower rate limits. "Orders submitted without an interactive token are classified as Pro Orders by default" and pay the published schedule; exceeding Retail rate limits switches an account to Pro behaviour. If you plan to trade through the API, read the fees page before the first order rather than after the first fee.

Set margin and leverage, then place an order

Three margin modes are documented: cross, isolated, and a portfolio mode marked beta. Leverage defaults to the market maximum, "up to 50x", and "can be updated to a lower level by the user". Order types are "Limit, Market, Stop, Scaled, TWAP, and TP/SL" with post-only and immediate-or-cancel instructions. Positions, entries and liquidation levels are hidden from other users, but not from you: the RPC returns your own data once your request is signed. If you trade a TradFi perp, note that funding is capped at 0.5% per eight hours on those markets and that they follow their own oracle rules.

Withdraw

Ethereum withdrawals are batched and proven: after you initiate one, the "Pending - L2" status "can take up to 8 hours to update", and "generating a Starknet proof takes around 2 hours". The native bridge takes four to six hours end to end. Paradex charges no withdrawal fee of its own; bridge providers do. One rule to know before you need funds: if the insurance fund is depleted, a socialised-loss factor is applied to withdrawals until it is recapitalised.

FAQ

Do I need KYC?

The docs read on the verification date contain no KYC statement, and onboarding is described as a wallet signature or an email login. No restricted-jurisdiction list was found either; confirm eligibility with the venue's terms.

Can I use the mobile app with any wallet?

There are iOS and Android apps and a progressive web app, but "if your wallet does not offer mobile apps (eg. Rabby), you will not be able to use our Paradex mobile app", per the docs.

Can I deposit anything other than USDC?

Not as collateral. Non-USDC balances count toward account value but "do not count toward free collateral"; the account is margined in USDC, with multi-collateral stated as a future update.
