Hyperliquid fees: the full schedule, explained
Every figure on this page was read from Hyperliquid's official docs on 2026-09-16: the fees page, the referrals page and the API pages that state the withdrawal and activation charges. The docs carry no "last updated" date, and rates can change by governance at any time; the tables below reproduce the schedule as published on that date.
Hyperliquid charges 0.045% taker and 0.015% maker on perpetual futures and 0.070% taker and 0.040% maker on spot at the base tier. Three things move those numbers: your rolling 14-day volume (seven tiers), how much HYPE you stake (six discount levels, up to 40%), and whether you signed up through a referral code (4% off your first $25M of volume). They multiply rather than add. Beyond trading fees there is a $1 withdrawal fee (plus any gas the withdrawal chain needs), a one-time 1 USDC charge to activate a brand-new account, and no gas per trade. Funding is not a fee: it passes between longs and shorts.

Volume tiers: the full base-rate table
Your tier comes from rolling 14-day weighted volume, "assessed at the end of each day in
UTC". Weighted means spot counts twice: 14d weighted volume = 14d perps volume + 2 × 14d spot volume.
One tier applies to everything you trade, "including perps, HIP-3 perps, and spot".
| Tier | 14-day weighted volume | Perp taker | Perp maker | Spot taker | Spot maker |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | no minimum | 0.045% | 0.015% | 0.070% | 0.040% |
| 1 | over $5M | 0.040% | 0.012% | 0.060% | 0.030% |
| 2 | over $25M | 0.035% | 0.008% | 0.050% | 0.020% |
| 3 | over $100M | 0.030% | 0.004% | 0.040% | 0.010% |
| 4 | over $500M | 0.028% | 0.000% | 0.035% | 0.000% |
| 5 | over $2B | 0.026% | 0.000% | 0.030% | 0.000% |
| 6 | over $7B | 0.024% | 0.000% | 0.025% | 0.000% |
Maker fees reach zero from tier 4 (over $500M). A negative maker fee, a rebate, is a separate ladder based on your share of all maker volume, below. Sub-account volume counts toward the master account and "all sub-accounts share the same fee tier"; vault volume "is treated separately from the master account".
HYPE staking discounts
Staking HYPE cuts every rate in the table above by a percentage. The docs publish the resulting figure for each combination; the right-hand column here is the docs' own tier 0 perp taker at that staking level, which is simply 0.045% × (1 − discount).
| Level | HYPE staked | Discount | Tier 0 perp taker |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | over 10 HYPE | 5% | 0.0428% |
| Bronze | over 100 HYPE | 10% | 0.0405% |
| Silver | over 1,000 HYPE | 15% | 0.0383% |
| Gold | over 10,000 HYPE | 20% | 0.0360% |
| Platinum | over 100,000 HYPE | 30% | 0.0315% |
| Diamond | over 500,000 HYPE | 40% | 0.0270% |
The discount applies to maker fees too, but not to rebates: a maker fee of 0.000% stays 0.000%. Staking works from the trading address, or from a separate staking address that you link once; the docs warn that linking "is permanent", that the staking user can unilaterally pull all funds from the linked trading user, and that a trading user "should therefore never link to a staking user that is controlled by another user". How staking itself works is on the staking page.
The referral discount, and how the three combine
Entering a referral code "will give you a 4% discount on your fees for your first $25M in
volume". It "does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts because those are treated as
independent accounts in the clearinghouse". The docs' developer formula shows the order of
operations: the tier-and-staking rate is fetched first, then multiplied by
(1 − activeReferralDiscount). So a Gold staker at tier 0 pays 0.0360% × 0.96 =
0.03456% as taker, not 0.045% minus 24 points. The referral discount does not reduce a
rebate. This site's code is on the referral page, with
the disclosure of what it earns us.
Maker rebates
Rebates are "paid out continuously on each trade directly to the trading wallet". The docs set the thresholds as percentages under the heading "14d weighted maker volume", not as dollar amounts; they do not spell out the denominator, and the natural reading is your share of the exchange's maker volume:
| Rebate tier | 14-day weighted maker volume (docs' label) | Maker fee |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | over 0.5% | −0.001% |
| 2 | over 1.5% | −0.002% |
| 3 | over 3.0% | −0.003% |
On that reading, 0.5% of an exchange's maker volume is a market-making scale, not a retail one; for most accounts the practical floor is a 0.000% maker fee at tier 4.
Markets with their own rules
- HIP-3 perps (builder-deployed markets such as stocks, commodities and indices). Deployers "can configure an additional fee share between 0-300%", and "if the share is above 100%, the protocol fee is also increased to be equal to the deployer fee". With growth mode on, all-in fees, rebates and volume contributions are cut by at least 90%, giving "a baseline all-in taker rate under growth mode … between 0.0045%-0.009%". Growth mode is only allowed for markets "entirely disjoint from existing validator-operated perps": no crypto perps, crypto indexes or gold. Read the market's fee line in the app before trading a HIP-3 market; see how these markets differ.
- Outcome (HIP-4) markets. "Outcome trading only charges fees when closing or settling, not when opening outcome positions", and it "does not support rebates". Detail on the outcome markets page.
- Spot pairs between two quote assets (stablecoin-to-stablecoin) have "80% lower taker fees, maker rebates, and user volume contribution".
- Aligned quote assets "benefit from 20% lower taker fees, 50% better maker rebates, and 20% more volume contribution toward fee tiers" under the original spec; the docs add that the newer AQAv2 designation carries "no trading fee or volume contribution benefit". Which stablecoins qualify changes; check the market's quote asset in the app.
- Trading through another app. A third-party front-end or bot can add a builder fee on top, capped at 0.1% on perps and 1% on spot, only with your signed approval. That is a separate mechanism: see builder codes.
Charges that are not trading fees
- Withdrawal: $1. The API docs' withdrawal section says "there is a $1 fee for withdrawing at the time of this writing and withdrawals take approximately 5 minutes to finalize"; the onboarding guide adds that "depending on the withdrawal chain and method, there may be small gas fees to process the withdrawal". Mechanics on the deposit and withdrawal page.
- Activating a new account: 1 quote token. "New HyperCore accounts require 1 quote token (e.g., 1 USDC, 1 USDT) of fees for the first transaction which has the new account as destination address. This applies regardless of the asset being transferred." A $50 first deposit therefore arrives as $49.
- Deposits. The docs list no Hyperliquid-side deposit fee; you pay the sending chain's gas (the onboarding guide notes ETH is needed "to deposit" from Arbitrum).
- No gas per trade. Orders, cancels and fills carry no gas; the schedule above is the entire cost of a fill.
Where the fees go
The docs state that "fees are entirely directed to the community (HLP, the assistance fund, and deployers)". The assistance fund "converts trading fees to HYPE in a fully automated manner as part of the L1 execution" and that HYPE "is burned". Spot and HIP-3 deployers "may choose to keep up to 50% of trading fees generated by their deployed assets". Whether that makes HYPE a good hold is a price question this site does not take up; the mechanics are on the HYPE token page.
Worked examples on a $10,000 fill
| Account | Rate | Fee | How |
|---|---|---|---|
| New account, market order | 0.045% | $4.50 | tier 0 taker |
| Same, with a referral code | 0.0432% | $4.32 | 0.045% × (1 − 0.04) |
| Gold staker (over 10,000 HYPE), market order | 0.0360% | $3.60 | docs Gold column at tier 0 |
| Gold staker with a referral code | 0.03456% | $3.46 | 0.0360% × 0.96 |
| New account, resting limit order that fills | 0.015% | $1.50 | tier 0 maker |
| Tier 4 or above, resting limit order | 0.000% | $0 | maker fee reaches zero from tier 4; rebates need maker-volume share |
A round trip is two fills, so a market-in, market-out trade on $10,000 costs $9.00 at the base rate and $6.91 for a Gold staker with a referral code. Funding on a position held through the hourly settlement is on top of that and can be either sign. To price a real order against the live book, including the spread you cross, use the execution-cost tool; to line the schedule up against other venues, the fee comparison.
FAQ
What is the Hyperliquid withdrawal fee?
$1, per the API docs, plus whatever gas the destination chain and method need. There is no Hyperliquid deposit fee.
Does Hyperliquid have gas fees?
Not on trades. The only gas you meet is on the chain you deposit from or withdraw to, and the one-time 1 USDC activation charge on a brand-new account.
What is the difference between taker and maker fees?
A taker order fills against orders already on the book (a market order, or a limit that crosses). A maker order rests on the book until someone fills it. Makers pay less at every tier and nothing from tier 4.
Do the referral and staking discounts stack?
Yes, multiplicatively: the docs' formula applies the referral factor to the rate you already get from your tier and staking level.
Is there a fee calculator?
The worked examples above cover the schedule; for a specific order size on a specific market, the execution-cost tool adds the spread and depth from the live book.
Do sub-accounts get their own tier?
No: sub-account volume counts toward the master account and all share one tier. Vaults are separate, and the referral discount does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts.
Are fees the same on stock and commodity perps?
Not necessarily. Those are HIP-3 markets, where the deployer can add a fee share and growth mode can cut the all-in rate by 90% or more. Read the market's own fee line.
